"As a Marine Corps veteran, I know what it is like to experience being in the military and the load that you carry. I also know the struggles and difficulties that come once you have transitioned out and back into the civilian world...whether that be in the last year or 15 years ago. With this role, my goal is to connect with our wonderful veteran community - meeting them where they are at. A second area of interest of mine is working with the young male population, pre-teens and up, who have experienced trauma or just need a helping hand in life."
Outside of work, Matt enjoys spending time with his wife Savanah and their two sons. Some of their favorite hobbies together are watching whatever Illini sport is on or being outside doing different activities. Matt also enjoys getting into new sci-fi and fantasy books, shows, and movies.
